A small but well-presented museum on the eastern side of the city centre, devoted to Osh's role as a stop on the northern branch of the Silk Road. Displays cover trade goods, period costume, manuscripts and a small collection of coins from the Sogdian, Karakhanid and Timurid periods.
The lighting is dim, the labels mostly in Russian, and the staff often outnumber the visitors — but the collection is genuinely interesting and the building's painted ceiling deserves a few minutes in its own right. Easy to combine with the bazaar and a walk along the river.
