Masjid Tengku Tengah Zaharah is better known as Kuala Terengganu's floating mosque, set beside a lagoon so that its white arcades and dome reflect in the water. The building is modern, but the composition is classic Terengganu: Islam, coast, light, and water all in one view.
It is especially photogenic in the softer light of morning or late afternoon. Visitors should dress respectfully and remember that this is an active mosque first, but even a brief outside visit gives a strong sense of the city's religious and coastal character.
