Forest Landscapes and Apple Orchards

The hills around Bagh are covered in stands of pine, deodar cedar, and mixed forest, cut through by small valleys where farmers cultivate terraced fields and apple orchards. Walking through this landscape — especially in spring when the orchards are in blossom or in autumn when the fruit hangs heavy — is quietly rewarding.

There are no marked trails as such; paths follow irrigation channels, ridge lines, and village tracks. The terrain is hilly and in places steep. Locals are generally welcoming to walkers passing through. The 2005 earthquake reshaped parts of the landscape and some areas still show signs of landslide damage and rebuilding.
