When to Go

April to October is the practical window for visiting Bagh. Spring (April–May) brings mild temperatures and green valleys; summer (June–July) is the best time for Sudhan Gali, when the hill station provides cool relief and the forests are in full leaf. The apple harvest runs from August through October — a good time to visit the bazaar and the orchards.

July and August are the monsoon months. Rainfall can be heavy and mountain roads occasionally become blocked by landslides or washouts. Travel during this period is manageable but requires flexibility.

November to March is cold. Sudhan Gali can receive significant snowfall and the upper roads may be impassable. Bagh town itself stays open year-round but there is little reason to visit in winter unless you have specific business in the district.

Foreign visitors should check current travel advisories before visiting — Azad Kashmir is Pakistan-administered and some areas have historically had access restrictions for non-Pakistani nationals. The situation is generally calm but conditions can change.
