Eating Out

Eating in Bagh means Pakistani and Kashmiri home cooking: slow-cooked karahi (a spiced meat or vegetable dish cooked in a wok), daal, rice, and freshly baked bread. Kashmiri cooking leans toward mild spicing compared to the Punjab, with dishes often flavoured with dried fruit, nuts, and aromatic spices rather than heat.

There are no restaurants of note in the Western sense — the town runs on small dhabas (roadside diners) and family-run eateries. Alcohol is not available; Bagh District is Muslim-majority and follows Islamic dietary law. Tea is the universal drink: strong, milky chai or the local green tea (kahwa) flavoured with cardamom.
