Each of Islamabad's sectors has its own market — the planners gave every grid cell a commercial centre called a "Markaz." Jinnah Super in F-7 is the oldest and most central, with everything from carpets and handicrafts to bookshops and tailors. Kohsar Market in F-6 is the upmarket equivalent, with imported groceries and boutiques. Saidpur Village under the Margalla Hills is the place for handicrafts and gifts in a more atmospheric setting. Centaurus Mall in F-8 is the main glass-and-air-conditioning Western-style mall.
The Sunday Bazaar in the H-9 sector is a long-running open-air market for cheap clothing, second-hand goods, fruit and vegetables. Worth an early-morning visit; it dies down by midday in summer.
