Pine Forest Walks

The forested slopes around Murree are a significant part of the town's appeal, especially for visitors from Pakistan's hot plains who come for the cool air and green scenery. Pine, fir, and oak trees cover the hillsides, and a network of walking paths connects the ridge to the surrounding valleys. The paths around Bhurban and along the ridgeline toward Nathia Gali are the most rewarding for hiking.

The most accessible walks start from the upper end of The Mall near Kashmir Point, where unmarked paths descend into forested side valleys. Early mornings before the crowds arrive on summer weekends are the best time to walk — the forest is quieter, cooler, and more likely to yield glimpses of langur monkeys and the occasional leopard track. The hill birds include a variety of flycatchers and babblers not found in the lowlands.
