St Mary's Church on The Mall is the most prominent of Murree's colonial Christian churches, a simple Gothic-influenced stone structure that dates from the British hill station era. The church is still used for services by the small Christian community in the area. Visitors may enter outside service times; ask locally for current opening arrangements.
The churchyard contains graves from the 19th and early 20th centuries, a quiet counter to the surrounding bustle of The Mall. Several other colonial-era churches survive in Murree, including the Church of England building and the presbyterian chapel. Together they form a modest but coherent reminder of the town's British administrative origins. The contrast between these stone British churches and the surrounding Pakistani hill town is one of Murree's defining qualities.
