Pakistan Army Museum

The Pakistan Army Museum in Rawalpindi Cantonment houses an extensive collection covering the country's military history from the British Indian Army period through to the present. The exhibits include weapons, uniforms, medals, maps, vehicles, and captured equipment from various conflicts. The 1965 and 1971 wars with India receive particular attention, as does the army's role in the wars in the northwest.

The museum is run by the army and the presentation is unambiguously patriotic — this is not a place for critical reflection on Pakistan's military history. That said, the collection is genuinely large and well-maintained, and visitors with an interest in South Asian military history will find material here that is difficult to access elsewhere. The cantonment setting adds context: Rawalpindi has been a garrison town since the British period, and the army's presence in the city's daily life is hard to miss.
