Jumalon Butterfly Sanctuary

The private garden and museum of the late lepidopterist Professor Julian Jumalon in the Basak district. The garden is still maintained as a butterfly habitat with dozens of species fluttering through the plants. Inside, the highlight is Jumalon's extraordinary collection of mosaic artworks made entirely from butterfly wing fragments — intricate portraits and landscapes assembled from thousands of tiny coloured scales. Call ahead to confirm opening times, as hours are limited.
