Banana Island is one of the prettier stops on the southern Calamian island-hopping circuit — a small island fringed with white sand and shallow turquoise water, with a healthy patch of reef just offshore. The interior is mostly coconut grove, with a handful of nipa huts where the boatmen prepare grilled fish for lunch.
It's usually combined with Malcapuya and Bulog Dos as a long day trip from Coron. Snorkelling around the reef edge is good for parrotfish, surgeonfish, and the occasional sea snake. As with most of the outer islands, there's no shop or freshwater — bring everything you need.
