Trappist Monastery

Our Lady of the Philippines Trappist Abbey is the only Trappist monastery in the country, set in quiet grounds above the Iloilo Strait. The chapel is open to visitors during the day, and the monks' shop sells the famous mango jam, otap, and polvoron made on the premises. The setting is meditative and the products genuinely good; this is one of the most worthwhile stops in central Guimaras.

A story
The monks of Our Lady of the Philippines arrived from Belgium in 1972 to found the only Trappist abbey in the country. They support themselves by making mango jam, polvoron, fruit cordials and altar bread, which are sold from a small shop at the gate.
