Calibato Lake

Deepest of San Pablo's seven lakes at 135 metres

Calibato is the deepest of San Pablo's seven volcanic crater lakes — at 135 metres, considerably deeper than the others — and a major source of tilapia for the city. The lake sits in a narrow valley about 5km southwest of the city centre, less visited than Sampaloc or Pandin, and accessible by jeepney or tricycle.

The surrounding hillsides are still partly forested, and the approach road offers good views across the lake surface. Fish farms occupy parts of the shore, and local families fish from small bancas. If you want to see one of the seven lakes with minimal tourist infrastructure, Calibato is the right choice.
