Crouching Lion Hill is a small natural area west of Chiang Rai with a Buddha cave, picnic space, and a three-chambered cave lit by natural skylights. It is not as polished as the city's temples and museums, but it makes a worthwhile local detour if you want a bit of limestone scenery without committing to a full day out.
