Khun Kon Waterfall Forest Park protects one of the Chiang Rai area's better waterfall outings, reached by a forest trail southwest of the city. The walk is short enough for a half-day trip but still gives a real change of air from temples, traffic, and town streets.
The waterfall is most impressive after rain, though paths can be slippery then. Bring water, insect repellent, and shoes you do not mind getting muddy; this is a simple nature stop, and that simplicity is the appeal.
