Adana has a serious connection to Turkish cinema — the family of celebrated director Yılmaz Güney came from here, and the city hosts the country's longest-running film festival, the Altın Koza (Golden Cocoon), since 1969. The Cinema Museum, housed in a restored old house near the bazaar, tells the story of Turkish film through projectors, posters, costumes and reconstructed sets.
The display on Güney — winner of the Palme d'Or in 1982 for Yol — is the highlight. The museum is small, free, and worth thirty minutes for anyone interested in twentieth-century Turkish culture.
