The Catholic Church of Saint Paul, a single-aisled basilica of dressed stone, was built in 1872 for Adana's small Latin Catholic community. The dedication to the apostle Paul is appropriate — Tarsus, his birthplace, is barely an hour up the road. The interior is unexpectedly elegant, with a high blue ceiling, marble altars and a small organ at the west end.
Mass is still celebrated here on Sundays. Outside service times the church is usually open for visitors; ring the bell at the priest's house next door if the gate is shut.
