Getting There

Ankara Esenboğa Airport (ESB) is 28 kilometres north of the city. Buses run to the centre (Kızılay) every 30 minutes; the journey takes around 45 minutes. Taxis and airport shuttles are also available.

The main train alternative to Ankara is the high-speed rail from Istanbul, which takes approximately four to four-and-a-half hours on the YHT (Yüksek Hızlı Tren) service. This is a comfortable and convenient route; trains run frequently and the Ankara train station (Ankara Garı) is centrally located in Ulus. High-speed trains also connect Ankara with Eskişehir, Konya, and other cities on the expanding rail network.

Long-distance buses from all major Turkish cities arrive at the ASTI bus terminal on the western edge of the city; the metro connects ASTI to the city centre.
