Central Mine Manager's Residence

The Central Mine Manager's Residence sits at the southern end of town, close to the line of lode. It was built in the early 20th century for the manager of one of the major mining companies, and is the grandest of the surviving company houses — a single-storey villa with deep verandahs, lead-light windows and a generous garden.

The residence is not currently open to the public but can be admired from the street. Several other mining managers' houses survive on nearby streets and together give a sense of how the company hierarchy was expressed in domestic architecture.
