Glenbrook

Lower Blue Mountains village beside swimming holes, Aboriginal rock art, and easy bushwalks.

Glenbrook is the soft eastern entry to the Blue Mountains, close enough to Sydney for a day trip but already wrapped in sandstone, eucalypt forest, and national park roads. The village itself is modest; the reason to come is the Glenbrook area of Blue Mountains National Park, just beyond the houses.

This is a good choice when you want the Blue Mountains without going all the way to Katoomba. You can swim at Jellybean Pool, walk to Red Hands Cave, or spend a slower afternoon around Euroka Clearing, where kangaroos often graze near the campground.

Glenbrook works best as a practical bush day. Come by train if you are walking from the village, or drive if you want to reach Euroka and the shorter Red Hands Cave access. Either way, bring water, check park alerts, and treat the rock art with care.
