Paragon Cafe

Art Deco institution on Katoomba Street serving handmade chocolates since 1916

The Paragon is the most distinctive cafe in the Blue Mountains — an Art Deco interior of dark timber booths, stained glass, ornate plasterwork and carved wooden panels that has barely changed since the 1930s. It opened in 1916 and has been making its own chocolates and confectionery on site ever since. Heritage-listed, it draws as many visitors for the room as for the food.

The menu covers breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. The house-made chocolates are sold from a counter near the entrance and make a good souvenir. It is located at 65 Katoomba Street, roughly midway along the main strip.
