Katoomba Falls drops over the basalt-capped sandstone escarpment in a series of cascades, with the main drop plunging around 80 metres into the Jamison Valley. The easiest viewing point is from the Katoomba Falls Reserve, reached by a short walk through Katoomba Falls Caravan Park off Katoomba Falls Road. A longer route follows the Cliff Drive and walking tracks to get closer to the falls themselves.
The falls are best in winter and spring when rainfall is higher; in late summer they can reduce to a thin stream. Combined with the Prince Henry Cliff Walk — which follows the escarpment edge for several kilometres — Katoomba Falls is part of one of the Blue Mountains' classic day walks.
