Eating Out

Rockhampton's eating scene is shaped by one fact: this is the beef capital of Australia, and the beef is exceptional. The region runs around four million cattle, and the steakhouses here take their product seriously. Beyond the steak, the city has a decent range of cafes and casual restaurants, and the proximity to the Capricorn Coast means fresh seafood is readily available.

The main restaurant strip is on East Street and the streets nearby. Quay Street has a couple of options with heritage atmosphere. Prices are modest by Queensland standards.
