The Town Hall is one of Adelaide's finest Victorian buildings — a confident Renaissance Revival structure with a prominent clock tower, built in the 1860s on King William Street at the corner of Victoria Square. The main hall has hosted concerts, civic events, and political meetings for over 150 years. The Beatles played here in 1964; the Rolling Stones in 1966. The building is occasionally open for tours; check with the city council.
The General Post Office next door is another sandstone heavyweight from the colonial period and forms an imposing pair with the Town Hall on the city's main street.
