By train — The Overland runs between Adelaide and Melbourne; the Indian Pacific crosses the continent from Perth to Sydney and stops here. Both are occasional scenic services rather than practical transport.
By road — Adelaide is about 8 hours from Melbourne and 7 from the Flinders Ranges.
