Her Majesty's Theatre on Grote Street is the grandest of Adelaide's surviving Victorian theatres — a red brick and terracotta confection built in 1913 that has hosted virtually every major touring show to come to the city. After decades of varying fortunes, it was fully restored and reopened in 2022 with a much-improved auditorium while preserving the ornate facade.
The theatre is privately run and books Broadway and West End touring productions, comedy, opera, and ballet. Check the programme for what's on. Even if nothing appeals, the exterior — with its Baroque terracotta detail — is worth noting as you pass.
