WOMADelaide

World music festival in the Botanic Park, held every March over the Labour Day weekend

WOMADelaide — World of Music, Arts and Dance — is held over the Labour Day long weekend in March in the Botanic Park, the open space adjoining the Botanic Garden. It is one of the best music festivals in Australia: a mix of world music, folk, roots, jazz, and electronica across five stages, with a genuinely international lineup. The park setting is excellent — mature trees provide shade, the stages are well-spaced, and the food stalls are a serious international eating experience in themselves.

Tickets sell out well in advance, particularly weekend passes. Day tickets are sometimes available at the gate. The simultaneous Adelaide Fringe and Adelaide Festival of Arts make the Labour Day weekend in even-numbered years the most intense cultural weekend in Australia outside of Sydney's New Year.
