Lorne is the road's classic seaside stop: a curving beach, a compact strip of cafes, and forested hills behind town. It can be busy and expensive in summer, but it still makes a pleasant break from driving.
Use it for lunch, a swim in safe conditions, or as a base for nearby waterfalls such as Erskine Falls. The town also marks the point where the road starts to feel properly coastal and scenic after the surf towns east of Aireys Inlet.
