Busselton is the practical northern gateway to the Margaret River wine region — fewer than thirty wineries are within a half-hour drive, and the rest of the region (down to Cape Leeuwin) is comfortable as a day out. Dunsborough, Yallingup, and Cape Naturaliste are all 20–30 minutes west and offer the surf beaches and coastal walking that Busselton's sheltered bay lacks. Bunbury is an hour north on the Bussell Highway for a half-day in WA's second city.
