Denarau Island is the resort and marina complex just north of Nadi town, connected to the mainland by a short causeway. It is the launching point for most boat traffic to the Mamanuca and Yasawa chains: the "Yasawa Flyer" catamaran, day cruises, dive boats, and private charters all leave from Port Denarau Marina.
The island itself is a manicured strip of large resorts (Hilton, Sheraton, Sofitel, Westin), an 18-hole golf course, and the marina precinct with bars, restaurants, and souvenir shops. It is comfortable, very un-Fijian, and useful as a base for boat trips even if you do not sleep there. Bula Bus, a hop-on hop-off shuttle, loops through the island.
