Main Street is the spine of the small town centre and the easiest crash course in everyday Nadi. A few hundred metres of low concrete shopfronts house Indian sari shops, kava sellers, mosques, churches, tax-free electronics dealers (most of which are not actually tax-free), and curry restaurants. The Nadi River runs across the south end, and the temple gopuram rises above the rooftops at the far end.
The Saturday morning is the best time to walk it — the produce market fills up, the bus park bustles, and the whole town turns out to shop and gossip. Watch for the friendly but aggressive sales pitch from the "sword sellers" — handicraft touts who try to give you a free souvenir then ask for a large donation. A firm polite no works.
