Putangirua Pinnacles are a striking badland landscape near Cape Palliser, where erosion has carved tall gravel hoodoos into a steep valley. The reserve is one of southern Wairarapa's most memorable natural sights and is well worth the detour for walkers and photographers.
Tracks give different perspectives from the valley floor and lookout points, but conditions can change after rain. Wear suitable shoes and allow enough time to combine the pinnacles with the coast, seal colony, or Cape Palliser lighthouse.
