The beach runs south of the city centre for several kilometres along the Adriatic coast — flat, sandy, and heavily developed with beach clubs, restaurants, and hotels. It is functional rather than beautiful: the water is clean enough for swimming, the sand is fine, and the facilities are adequate, but the density of development gives it a resort feel rather than a wild coast feel.
If you arrive by ferry from Italy and want a quick beach day before heading inland, Durrës is convenient. But for more attractive beaches — quieter, less developed, with clearer water — you should head further south along the Albanian Riviera to places like Dhërmi or Himara.
