The Byzantine Forum, also known as the Macellum, preserves part of the public centre of ancient Durrës. The circular 5th-century structure and nearby bath remains are easy to combine with the amphitheatre and archaeological museum, and they help show how deep the city's Roman and Byzantine layers run.
