A quietly excellent small museum inside Krujë Castle, in a restored 18th-century Ottoman-Albanian merchant's house belonging to the Toptani family. Every room is set up as a living space: the kitchen with its copper kettles, the women's quarters with low cushions and carved oak chests, the master's reception room with carved ceiling, the carpet looms on the upper floor.
The volunteer caretakers are usually delighted to walk you through the house and explain how each object was used. The whole thing takes about an hour and is one of the better introductions to traditional Albanian domestic life. Combine with the Skanderbeg Museum next door.
