Lushnjë's position halfway between Durrës and Fier makes it a practical jumping-off point for several of central Albania's better destinations. Berat — the white Ottoman town in the hills to the east — is the obvious day trip and well worth a full day. Apollonia, the ruined Greek and Roman city, is about 40 minutes south. Durrës is on the coast to the north.
