Ashtarak is not a nightlife town. There are a few simple cafés where locals drink coffee and play backgammon, and the Ashtaraki Dzor complex has a bar alongside its restaurant, but anyone looking for a proper evening out will be better served back in Yerevan. The main pleasure here is daytime coffee and pastry after the churches.
