Ashtarak is about 20 kilometres northwest of Yerevan on the M-3 highway, and minibuses (marshrutka) run regularly from Yerevan's Kilikia bus station. The journey takes around 30 to 40 minutes. Taxis from Yerevan are inexpensive by European standards and a practical option if you want to explore several sites in the area without waiting for buses. The town is easy to drive to if you have a car, and the road is in good condition.
