Tsaghkadzor Ski Resort runs up the slopes of Teghenis Mountain, with lifts reaching from the base at around 1,950m to the summit at 2,819m. The vertical drop gives a reasonable range of terrain, with beginner runs near the base, several intermediate blue and red runs in the middle section, and more challenging descents towards the top. The season typically runs from December through March, depending on snowfall.
The lift system consists of a gondola and several chairlifts and drag lifts. The gondola operates year-round, which is unusual for small mountain resorts and makes the summit accessible to non-skiers in summer. Ski and snowboard equipment rental is available at the base, as are ski school lessons in Armenian, Russian, and to some degree English. Day passes are significantly cheaper than comparable European resorts.
The resort infrastructure has been steadily upgraded since Armenian independence. The gondola itself is relatively modern, and the base area has a cluster of cafes, equipment hire shops, and a few larger hotels. On busy winter weekends the slopes get crowded by mid-morning; arriving early or skiing on a weekday makes a noticeable difference.
