Alte Galerie

Medieval and Renaissance art in a quieter Graz museum

The Alte Galerie covers art history from the Romanesque through Baroque periods, with a strong collection of Gothic devotional painting — including a 15th-century altarpiece by Michael Pacher — and a Flemish department whose standout is Bruegel's "Triumph of Death." Also houses a coin collection and rotating exhibitions. Less visited than the Kunsthaus but more rewarding if you care about medieval and Renaissance painting.

Neutorgasse 45. Open Tue–Fri 10am–5pm, Sat & Sun 10am–1pm.
