Baerenschutzklamm is a dramatic limestone gorge north of Graz, climbed by a route of wooden ladders, bridges, and stepped paths beside waterfalls and narrow rock walls. It is one of the classic Styrian gorge hikes and feels much wilder than its distance from the city suggests.
This is not a casual stroll. The route can be slippery, steep, and exposed in places, and closures are possible after storms or maintenance issues. Check current access before setting out, wear proper footwear, and allow enough time for the approach and descent as well as the gorge itself.
