By train, Salzburg is exceptionally well-connected: the main station (Hauptbahnhof) is on the main east–west rail line and has fast connections to Vienna (2.5 hours), Munich (1.5 hours), and Innsbruck (1.5 hours), plus direct long-distance services to Zurich, Frankfurt, Prague and Budapest. By air, Salzburg Airport (W.A. Mozart), 5 km from the centre, has mostly European regional and low-cost flights; for intercontinental connections, Munich is a better bet and can be reached in 90 minutes by train. By car, Salzburg is on the A1 Vienna–Munich motorway. The old town is pedestrianised and parking garages on the edge are well-marked.
