Kapuzinerberg

The wooded hill on the right bank of the Salzach is a peaceful counterpoint to the Mönchsberg — fewer tourists, more locals, and a network of footpaths leading to the 16th-century Capuchin monastery at the top.

The viewpoint behind the monastery is the best vantage on the old town from the east — the cathedral and Festung in one frame, the river curving away below. The walk up from Linzergasse takes about twenty minutes; bring a coffee.
