The narrow medieval lane parallel to Linzergasse is the oldest street on the right bank and the heart of Salzburg's small bar scene. From dusk onwards a string of dimly lit cocktail bars opens up in 12th-century rooms — Steinterrasse, Pepe Cocktailbar, and the venerable Shrimps Bar are all within a hundred metres of each other.
The Sebastiansfriedhof end is quieter and more atmospheric than the river end. Most bars open at 6 p.m. and stay open well past midnight; a few close on Sundays.
