The Bummerlhaus is the most photographed building in Steyr: a late-Gothic burgher house from around 1497, with a flat-arched entrance opening into an arcaded inner courtyard. The facade still carries traces of the late-medieval painted decoration, and the iron-bracketed sign of the lion hangs over the doorway.
The building was carefully restored in the 1970s with as little intervention as possible, and visitors can wander into the courtyard during business hours. The ground floor is a bank branch; you can ignore that and look up.
