Miniatures of Isaac Cordal

Tiny concrete figures hidden on ledges and rooftops around the old town

Look up — but mostly down — as you wander Namur's old town and you may spot a small grey businessman perched on a window ledge, or sheltering in a doorway, or grimly contemplating his reflection in a puddle. The Spanish street sculptor Isaac Cordal scattered a series of his trademark miniatures around the city as part of the KIKK festival, and many have stayed.

There is no official map; finding them is part of the fun. Likely places include around the Halle al'Chair, near the cathedral, and in the alleys towards the river. The figures are small, drab and easy to miss — which is the point.

A story
Isaac Cordal is a Galician sculptor who places small concrete businessmen — sober-suited, slightly defeated-looking — on city ledges and in puddles around the world. Namur asked him to install a series during the KIKK arts festival; many were never officially mapped, and finding them has become a low-grade urban game for residents.
