Brno's bar scene is centred on Zelný trh (Cabbage Market) and the surrounding streets of the old town, with a second concentration around the university area to the north of the centre. The city has a reputation among Czechs for a lively but unpretentious nightlife — less expensive than Prague, less self-conscious than Olomouc. Moravian wine bars (vinárny) are a particular pleasure: informal places serving local wines by the glass alongside simple snacks.
