Eating Out

Brno has a good restaurant scene for a city of its size — far better than its modest tourist profile might suggest. The city's strong student population (Masaryk University has around 35,000 students) keeps prices reasonable and ensures a constant demand for decent food. Moravian cuisine leans toward roast meats, game, dumplings, and cabbage, but the city centre has a full range of international options. The local Moravian wines — particularly whites from the Palava and Znojmo regions — are excellent and available in most restaurants and bars.
