The Cathedral of the Divine Saviour is the second-largest Catholic cathedral in Moravia and Silesia, after the basilica at Velehrad. Completed in 1889, it is a neo-Renaissance pile in red brick and sandstone, with two towers and a long arched nave that fits 4,000 people. The cathedral sits behind Masaryk Square in the city centre and forms the main vertical accent of the old town.
The interior is plainer than the exterior promises — the cathedral was a working parish church before being elevated, and the decoration is in the same restrained late-19th-century style. Free entry outside services.
