Ostrava's attractions are mostly born of its industrial past. The headline sights are the post-industrial complex at Lower Vítkovice, the night-time party street of Stodolní, and the underground mine tour at Landek Park, with the Cathedral and the restored Masaryk Square providing a more conventional civic afternoon.
A first-time visit needs two days: one for Vítkovice and Stodolní, the other for Landek, the centre and the zoo if you have a family in tow.
